A short 45 minute drive from Ashburton gets you to Coal Hill (Stew Point) Station a great spot looking up the Rangitata Valley towards Mesopotamia Station. In a couple of months these mountains will be half covered in snow. Looking across from the Rangitata River form Coal Hill Station at Mt Possession Station and Hakatere / Ashburton Gorge. The hunting mate with Toby taking a breather during the ascent of Mt Too High.
An exciting 2 day event, where crews from Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Canterbury will compete for the title of being the National champion. Crews from Corporate ,open teams and secondary schools will compete in the divisions over a range of distances on the 2 days. 250m sprints 500m Premiem division 2000m Endurance race. This event last took place here 2 years ago. Come and support the South Island teams and watch them defend their titles which they gained in Auckland last year. The competion will be fierce as many of the teams are hoping to take the challenge over the ditch to Australia to compete in the World crews the following week. There is possibly snow falling in these areas as I speak. We've had a very long and warm summer but all good things come to an end eventually.
